Palate expanders are used to widen narrow/constricted palates. This treatment is usually completed in four to six months and tolerated extremely well. Expanders have come a long way in the past 20+ years. There’s even an Invisalign option for expansion now.
Class II + Class III Appliances
In cases with mild to moderate malocclusions (the way upper and lower teeth meet together), we are able to use various appliances in conjunction with braces and sometimes even Invisalign to achieve optimal occlusion, avoiding jaw surgery.
Surgical Treatment
In severe malocclusion (bite abnormalities) cases, orthognathic surgery, also known as jaw surgery, is necessary. Our team works in conjunction with highly qualified oral surgeons to guide you through the surgical process resulting in complete orthognathic alignment.
Laser Procedures
At McMurphy Orthodontics we offer several laser procedures in house. This allows us to reduce the amount of appointments that may be needed for your treatment. Procedures include frenectomies, gingivectomies, and minimal gum tissue removal to facilitate tooth eruption.
IPR
Interproximal reduction, also known as IPR, is used in conjunction with several treatment modalities. During IPR, the orthodontist will lightly polish between the necessary teeth. This will help address issues such as crowding, minor tooth reshaping, and the reduction of black triangular spacing at the gum line.
Elastics
In most orthodontic cases, elastics are used to achieve bite correction. They can be used with braces or aligners. Our team will work with the patient instructing them how to place the elastics, as well as making sure the patient is comfortable changing them multiple times a day.
Retainers
We offer several retainer options for our patients. This includes bonded/fixed retainers that are glued to the backside of the front teeth, traditional wired retainers, and most commonly, clear retainers. Our team will review the pros and cons of retainer options, and help you decide which retainer will be best for you.
Whitening Trays
We offer custom-made whitening trays that are used with whitening gel. This can be used during your Invisalign treatment or at the completion of your orthodontic treatment with braces.
