What I love about practicing orthodontics is seeing how transformational a great smile can be. Watching patients grow more confident and, in turn, joyful, is absolutely inspiring. The passion I derive in helping others makes coming to work both meaningful and fun.

I am proud to be board-certified by the American Board of Orthodontics, a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, and a past President of the Mobile Area Dental Society. Continuing education keeps me on the cutting edge of delivering superior results, and I am invested for the sake of everyone that I’m blessed to treat.

Away from work, I enjoy spending time with my wife Andrea and my daughters Madeline and Greta, with whom we love traveling to their athletic events, and finding new adventures. I also enjoy biking, running, hunting, and fishing as time allows.

Life’s all about finding the time to smile, and I’m blessed to help others discover theirs!

Education

My journey to becoming an orthodontist began at an early age. My father, Dr. Marion McMurphy Jr., was a pediatric dentist here in Mobile, and I was inspired to become a dental specialist, myself. After finishing high school at UMS-Wright, I attended Rhodes College for my undergraduate degree, followed by four years at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Dental School. Realizing how much I enjoyed orthodontics while earning my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree, I spent three more years in residency at the University of Pennsylvania to earn my specialization.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

I am inspired to be the best orthodontist I can be, and continuing education is the key to making that possible. I enjoy my profession and want to deliver the best outcomes for everyone I treat, so it’s important that I stay on the cutting edge with the latest proven techniques and technologies in my field.
